Work Experience

International London News

January 2018 - Ongoing

My role while I was working at ILN involved going through boxes which had old original photographs that had been catalogued in old magazines. There were loose photographs and I had to categories them all. Photographs included important events such as Prince William’s Christening with Princess Dianna. The Queen photographed from 0-18 years old plus photographs of even more iconic faces such as Sir Winston Churchill.  Overall, I had to go through about 600 photographs. I then had to add all the photographs to a spreadsheet while thinking of the title, caption and description of the photograph. After, I had to add it to the 32 auctions website where the auction was going to be ‘silent’ and take place online. The auction was going to be advertised through ILN’s social media which I have also been helping with. Once the online auction has taken place which will be in 2019, there will be a live auction. The money will go ILN which will help future research within the company in the heritage sector. As well as the money going here, some of it will go to the charity ‘Highgate has Heart’  which is a charity ILN has a close partnership with.

Thame Town Music Festival

May 2018 - July 2018

My roles within the organisation was taking on the role of Facebook which meant that it was up to me to promote the festival. I did a post a day for up to 7 weeks and each post had to be relevant to the festival and getting more and more people to attend it. I also had to start fresh which made it more difficult meaning that I had to start a Facebook page with 0 likes and try and get a lot more likes which would indicate the amount of people who would attend the festival as it was a free festival.  I have learnt many things from my experience and doing the Facebook post because I had to do up to one post a day and in the last week I was doing up to two a day. I also had to follow the statistics on Facebook and I had to see when people would interact with the posts the most. While working with the Facebook page I had to figure out how paid and organic likes work. Organic likes mean the likes that my post would have reached naturally whereas paid likes are when you write a post and pay for that post to reach a much wider audience and the post is able to get boosted a lot easier.

Kinnerton Confectionary

June 2018

1) I first started by looking at the competitors of the other companies that were similar to Kinnerton. The competitors I looked at included both Milky Way, Kinder, Fruit Bowl and Ellas Kitchen which are mainly chocolate companies that are aimed at children. I looked at the way that these competitors advertised things and the sort of events they held and what sort of things they did at seasonal times. I looked at all of this over their Facebook and saw how Kinnerton  could improve and what they were doing well.

2) While I was there I was mainly focusing on Easter 2018. I was mainly working in the marketing and sales team which meant I had to sit in on a lot of meetings as well listen to other companies trying to sell their company to Kinnerton so Kinnerton was able to use them as licenses. This means that many licenses came in such as Volkwagen, Hot Wheels, My Little Pony and Power Puff Girls and many more.  The people representing these companies had to sell themselves and then Kinnerton had to decide what Licenses they were going to take on board. Whenever Kinnerton finalised the Licenses they were going to take on it would mean special Easter Eggs would be made with that License. For example: A Little Pony Easter egg was made which means that it would attract a certain audience through subtle advertising because it would attract people who were fans of the Little Pony.
